The Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK) Universitas Padjadjaran has reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability by implementing an energy efficiency program aimed at reducing overall energy consumption. This initiative includes concrete measures such as replacing conventional lighting with energy-saving alternatives, reducing the use of air conditioning, and encouraging energy-conscious behavior among the academic community. Through these efforts, FPIK Unpad contributes to the university’s broader green campus initiatives while supporting its long-term goal of carbon emission reduction.

In line with this commitment, Universitas Padjadjaran conducted a carbon footprint calculation covering electricity consumption and transportation activities within the campus, including buses, cars, and motorcycles. The results showed that electricity usage was the largest contributor, accounting for 2,267.29 metric tons of CO₂ in 2022. Campus shuttle buses contributed 20.16 metric tons of CO₂, private cars added 495.93 metric tons of CO₂, while motorcycles contributed 704.61 metric tons of CO₂. Altogether, the university’s total carbon footprint reached 3,488.00 metric tons of CO₂ in 2022.

These findings emphasize the urgent need to strengthen energy efficiency strategies and promote eco-friendly transportation within the campus. As part of its efforts, Universitas Padjadjaran provides free transportation across the Jatinangor Campus area for students, lecturers, and staff. A total of 20 shuttle buses operate daily, connecting faculties and various destinations across the expansive campus. Services run from 07.00 to 16.00 WIB, with an additional 6 special units available from 16.00 to 18.00 WIB.

The shuttle buses serve two main routes: the Science Route (IPA) and the Social Sciences Route (IPS). To further enhance convenience, the real-time location of these buses can be tracked via the LacakAku application at bit.ly/lacakaku. With this service, Unpad continues to improve accessibility, reduce vehicle dependency, and promote a more sustainable campus environment.
