Jatinangor, 11 June 2026 – The Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK), Universitas Padjadjaran, through its International Unit, successfully held the first day of OCEAN (Overseas Career, Exchange & Abroad Networking) International Week FPIK 2026 at the FPIK Auditorium, Jatinangor. Carrying the theme “From FPIK to the World,” the event was organized as part of the Ocean Academy: Global Readiness Coaching Series, aiming to broaden students’ perspectives on international education, research collaboration, student mobility, and global career opportunities.
The event welcomed enthusiastic participation from FPIK students eager to learn directly from speakers with international academic and professional experience. Through OCEAN 2026, FPIK reaffirmed its commitment to preparing graduates equipped with strong academic competencies, intercultural communication skills, and the ability to thrive in an increasingly globalized environment.
The first session, “OCEAN Voices: Research Across Borders,” featured international students from Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Beatrice Nasa Gilbert and Charissa Thalia, who shared their experiences conducting research in an international academic environment. They highlighted the importance of cross-border collaboration in advancing fisheries and marine sciences while introducing participants to Malaysia’s academic culture.
Their participation was supported through the Universitas Padjadjaran Visiting Grant program, reflecting the partnership between the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran (FPIK Unpad) and the Institute Marine Borneo (IMB), Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) in strengthening collaboration in education, research, and academic exchange.
The second session, “AIMS Gateway: Your Passport to Asia,” was delivered by Fittrie Meyllianawaty Pratiwy, S.Pi., M.Sc., Ph.D., Head of the International Affairs Unit of FPIK Universitas Padjadjaran. She introduced the Asian International Mobility for Students (AIMS) Programme, explaining application procedures, partner universities, eligibility requirements, and the academic and personal benefits of participating in international mobility programs across Asia.
The final session, “Beyond Borders: My Exchange Journey,” featured FPIK students who had completed exchange programs abroad: Aims Shafina Azzahra Tumanggor (Universiti Malaysia Sabah), Carolina Angel (University of Tsukuba), and Nabila Nurkhaliza (University of Tsukuba). They shared first-hand experiences on the application process, academic life, cultural adaptation, and personal growth throughout their exchange journeys. Their stories inspired fellow students to pursue similar international opportunities with greater confidence.
Beyond the speaker sessions, OCEAN 2026 Day 1 also provided a valuable networking platform for students, faculty members, international participants, and institutional representatives. The event fostered meaningful dialogue, encouraged future academic collaboration, and strengthened connections that support international engagement within higher education.
The successful implementation of OCEAN 2026 Day 1 reflects FPIK Universitas Padjadjaran’s ongoing commitment to cultivating an inclusive, collaborative, and internationally oriented academic environment. By expanding students’ access to global learning experiences and strengthening international partnerships, the program contributes to developing future graduates who are well-prepared to excel in an interconnected world while advancing academic excellence and international cooperation.
