Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad) continues to demonstrate its commitment to sustainability through various initiatives on campus. One of the highlights is the presence of The Oceano Café & Resto, located at the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK), which not only enriches campus dining experiences but also aligns with Unpad’s broader plan to reduce parking areas and promote eco-friendly mobility.
Situated just 200 meters from the Rectorate Building, The Oceano Café & Resto offers a unique marine-inspired atmosphere that reflects the faculty’s identity. With aquariums filled with koi, balloon fish, and bettas, as well as outdoor seating including a ship-bow shaped gazebo, the café blends comfort with creativity. It has become a favorite hangout spot for students, staff, and visitors in 2024.
The café’s diverse and affordable menu further supports student needs. Local dishes such as gado-gado, pecel, pempek, and cireng sit alongside Western-style meals like steak and fried chicken. Popular snacks, including cilok, mendoan, and gyoza, are also available. To maintain affordability, the café offers a daily combo meal package—a main dish, rice, and mineral water—for only IDR 20,000.
Beyond dining, The Oceano Café & Resto symbolizes Unpad’s efforts to optimize land use on campus. In line with the university’s Green Campus Program, Unpad has developed initiatives to gradually reduce vehicle parking areas by converting empty spaces into green parks, gardens, and gazebos. This approach not only enhances campus aesthetics but also supports the reduction of private vehicle use, encouraging students and staff to shift toward bicycles, electric scooters, and walking.By integrating lifestyle facilities like The Oceano Café & Resto with environmentally conscious spatial planning, Unpad aims to create a healthier, greener, and more sustainable campus environment. These initiatives represent the university’s concrete steps in reducing emissions, promoting eco-friendly mobility, and fostering a culture of sustainability among its academic community.
