Jatinangor, 10/10/24 – As part of its ongoing commitment to sustainability and clean energy, the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science (FPIK) at Universitas Padjadjaran has installed solar panels to support the operational needs of selected buildings within the campus area.

The solar panel system was implemented to reduce dependency on non-renewable energy sources and to promote energy efficiency in faculty operations. By integrating renewable energy infrastructure into its daily operations, FPIK not only reduces its carbon footprint but also demonstrates how higher education institutions can take active roles in environmental stewardship.

The solar panels are currently used to power lighting and electrical systems in selected areas. Future plans include expanding the system and integrating solar energy into research facilities and other academic units.

This renewable energy initiative complements FPIK’s broader sustainability efforts across its five academic programs, where students and researchers explore innovations in fisheries, marine conservation, aquaculture, and coastal community development.
