The Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran (FPIK Unpad), has successfully secured a research grant totaling Rp 574,017,638 dedicated to projects supporting SDG 13: Climate Action. The flagship project under this grant, “Utilizing Climate-Smart Shrimp Farming as a Nature-Based Climate Solution for Small-Scale Farmers in Coastal Indonesia,” aims to strengthen coastal resilience, support sustainable livelihoods, and reduce climate risks for vulnerable communities.

This substantial grant was awarded through collaboration with leading international institutions, including the Kurita Water and Environment Foundation, World Resources Institute Indonesia (WRI Indonesia), and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). The funding will enable FPIK Unpad to advance research on climate-smart aquaculture, develop practical adaptation strategies, and provide policy recommendations to enhance Indonesia’s coastal resilience against climate change.

This initiative reflects FPIK Unpad’s commitment to research that directly addresses global climate challenges while empowering local communities. The project will also serve as a model for nature-based climate solutions in the fisheries and marine sectors, contributing to Indonesia’s commitments under the Paris Agreement and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.Hashtags:
