Jatinangor, 2 October 2024 — The Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK), Universitas Padjadjaran, has successfully conducted a Laboratory Safety and Health (K3) Training at the Marine Science Study Program as part of its annual safety drill program. The training featured Dr. Diana Widiastuti, M.Phil., a certified K3 laboratory expert, and aimed to increase awareness and skills among staff and students in handling laboratory hazards and emergency situations.

This activity covered key topics such as hazard identification, chemical waste management, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), first aid in laboratory accidents, emergency response, and the correct operation of fire extinguishers (APAR). Through simulations and practical sessions, participants learned how to respond to chemical spills, fire risks, and evacuation procedures, strengthening the faculty’s overall preparedness for emergencies.

The K3 Laboratory Training reflects FPIK Unpad’s commitment to occupational safety, environmental protection, and sustainable laboratory management. By holding at least one emergency preparedness training each year, FPIK directly supports SDG 13: Climate Action, while also contributing to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, and SDG 14: Life Below Water through improved safety practices, chemical and waste management, and pollution prevention. Documentation of the training, including photos of participants and activities, serves as evidence of this initiative and reinforces Unpad’s leadership in integrating sustainability across academic and research activities.
