Cirebon, 3/08/24 – 4/08/24 — HIMAIKA Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran, carried out two community service programs, “HIMAIKA Mengajar” and “Rangkul Desa” in Mundupesisir Village, Cirebon Regency.
On Saturday, August 3, 2024, the HIMAIKA Mengajar program was held at SDN 3 Mundupesisir. The initiative focused on raising environmental awareness among elementary school students by educating them about marine ecosystems, the dangers of plastic waste, and the importance of keeping the coastal environment clean. Through interactive teaching, the program aimed to foster a sense of responsibility in the younger generation as future guardians of the nation’s natural resources.
The following day, August 4, 2024, HIMAIKA continued with Rangkul Desa, a conservation activity involving the planting of 300 mangrove seedlings in the coastal area of Mundupesisir. This initiative was designed not only to mitigate coastal erosion but also to help the local community develop sustainable mangrove-based ecotourism and long-term conservation practices.
