Monday, July 15, 2024 – The Community Service Program (KKN) group of Universitas Padjadjaran visited SDN Bojongsoang 1 to carry out a socialization activity on the Healthy Fish-Eating Movement. This initiative was part of the group’s work program focusing on sustainable aquaculture to support local food security.
The Field Supervisor of the Unpad KKN group, Fittrie Meyllianawaty Pratiwy, S.Pi., MIL., M.Sc., PhD., explained in her remarks, “The material on Loving to Eat Fish presented by the KKN group is one way to strengthen local food security, especially in Bojongsoang Village, instilled from an early age.” To further raise awareness of the importance of fish consumption from childhood, the group also distributed processed fish products from local MSMEs to students at SDN Bojongsoang 1.

The session, delivered by 16 students, engaged around 80 pupils through interactive teaching methods, question-and-answer games, quizzes, and an origami competition shaped like fish to train students’ motor skills. The team was divided into two subgroups to teach grades 2 and 4, where they explained the nutritional content of fish, the health benefits of consuming fish, and introduced the types of fish commonly produced in Bojongsoang Village as an aquaculture center. They also shared various processed fish products from local MSMEs as a form of support for community-based enterprises.
According to Shafie, the leader of the Unpad KKN group, “The Fish-Eating Movement introduced to the students of SDN Bojongsoang 1 is an opportunity to emphasize the importance of eating fish from an early age while reintroducing Bojongsoang Village as a center for fish processing. Through this activity, we also aim to encourage initiative and awareness among students regarding the benefits and impacts of consuming healthy fish.”
Beyond its immediate outcomes, this program also reflects a strong alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It supports SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) by promoting food security and better nutrition, advances SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) through healthier dietary habits, and embodies SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering collaboration between universities, schools, and local MSMEs to build sustainable community-based solutions.
