The Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran (FPIK Unpad), in 2025, strengthened its commitment to supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through a series of community service programs (PPM) and research activities focused on the marine and fisheries sectors. These programs involved both lecturers and students in activities that implicitly support all 17 global goals.

In the marine sector, various initiatives included monitoring and conserving coastal and marine ecosystems, such as mangrove planting, climate change education, and the development of seawater quality monitoring technology. These activities enhance environmental resilience and contribute to climate change mitigation (SDG 13), the preservation of life below water (SDG 14), and the sustainable management of natural resources in coastal areas (SDG 15).

In the fisheries sector, the focus was directed toward improving food security through sustainable fish farming, strengthening fish immunity with natural feed, training in aquaculture techniques, and raising community awareness on waste and garbage management in coastal environments. These initiatives support poverty alleviation (SDG 1), hunger reduction (SDG 2), health and well-being (SDG 3), quality education (SDG 4), economic empowerment (SDG 8), as well as responsible consumption and production (SDG 12).

Furthermore, the programs also promoted gender equality and reduced inequalities (SDG 5 and SDG 10), while fostering the development of innovative infrastructure (SDG 9), including the advancement of information technology to improve access to and the quality of training and public services.

Active student participation in community service and research further strengthened the institution’s role as an agent of change in building inclusive, safe, and sustainable coastal communities (SDG 11). The involvement of multiple stakeholders, including government institutions, academia, and local communities, reflects a spirit of global partnership to achieve shared goals (SDG 17) alongside clean and effective governance (SDG 16).

The overall series of verified activities demonstrates integration and synergy across social, economic, and environmental aspects, collectively contributing to the creation of a sustainable future for the marine and fisheries sectors while improving the well-being of coastal communities.

FPIK Unpad plays a strategic role as an academic and innovation hub capable of bridging science, technology, and community service. This positions FPIK Unpad as a pioneer in implementing the 2030 global agenda, ensuring that all programs holistically support sustainable development from SDG 1 through SDG 17.
