The Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science (FPIK) at Universitas Padjadjaran strengthens its commitment to sustainability by implementing a total of 71 Community Service Programs (PPM) directly supporting SDGs 13: Climate Action. These initiatives showcase FPIK’s role in advancing climate change mitigation, adaptation, and environmental awareness across coastal and inland communities.
The PPM activities encompass mangrove planting for blue carbon conservation, coastal clean-up programs to reduce marine debris, coral reef transplantation, sea turtle conservation, and climate education in schools. Other initiatives include natural feed enrichment to enhance fish immunity, ghost fishing prevention, sustainable aquaculture practices, and local food security empowerment through fisheries by-products. Together, these programs contribute to ecosystem restoration, disaster risk reduction, and strengthening the resilience of communities most affected by climate challenges.
By integrating research, education, and community engagement, FPIK Unpad demonstrates leadership in turning academic knowledge into real-world impact. The involvement of lecturers, students, and local stakeholders reflects the faculty’s commitment to ensuring that sustainable fisheries, marine conservation, and community development go hand in hand with global climate action efforts.
