While the exact number of KIP-K (Indonesia Smart Card for College) recipients specifically within FPIK is not yet public, the faculty is an integral part of Unpad\u2019s broader success story in leveraging this crucial government scholarship program. This year, Unpad was granted a remarkable increase in its KIP-K quota, soaring to 1,291 spots, a substantial jump from the 636 available in the previous year, according to Tempo and Detik. This expansion, which benefits students across all faculties including FPIK, is a powerful demonstration of the government\u2019s commitment to equal opportunity in higher education. The scholarships have been distributed across various admission pathways, with 454 students receiving KIP-K through the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP) and approximately 430 through the National Selection Based on Test (SNBT).\u00a0 As in FPIK itself, 122 students received the KIP-K 2024.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Furthermore, an additional 326 spots were allocated for the independent (Mandiri) path, an initiative that, despite some initial administrative challenges, Unpad\u2019s leadership has vowed to fully support through alternative funding to ensure every eligible student can continue their studies without financial burden. This concerted effort to provide financial aid directly supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education. By ensuring that deserving students from low-income families can pursue degrees in vital fields like fisheries and marine science, the KIP-IK program helps to remove socio-economic barriers to learning, thereby promoting inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all. This aligns with the broader goal of building a skilled workforce that can contribute to national development and a more sustainable future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A Strategic Investment in Human Capital and Sustainable Development&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><\/strong>The KIP-K program\u2019s impact on FPIK Unpad extends beyond individual students; it represents a strategic investment in the nation&#8217;s human capital, directly linking to several other Sustainable Development Goals. By enabling a diverse group of students to enroll in FPIK, the scholarship contributes to SDG 1: No Poverty, as higher education is a key pathway out of economic hardship for individuals and their families. Moreover, the specialized training offered at FPIK, which focuses on sustainable management of marine and fisheries resources, directly supports SDG 14: Life Below Water. KIP-K scholars are being equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to tackle critical issues such as overfishing, marine pollution, and climate change, ultimately becoming the next generation of researchers, policymakers, and industry leaders who can protect and sustainably utilize Indonesia\u2019s vast marine resources.
