[Kanal Media Unpad] Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad) and the Korea-Indonesia Marine Technology Cooperation Research Center (MTCRC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on academic and research collaboration. The purpose of this MoU is to strengthen bilateral relations, explore the potential for cooperation in academic research and education, and promote advancements in the fields of fisheries and marine sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The signing ceremony took place at the Executive Lounge, Universitas Padjadjaran, Jl. Dipati Ukur 35 Bandung, on Thursday, November 21, 2024. The MoU was signed by Unpad Rector, Prof. Arief S. Kartasasmita; MTCRC Korea Director, Dr. Park Hansan; and MTCRC Indonesia Director, Ivonne Radjawane, Ph.D. Also present at the event were MTCRC Advisory Board Chairman, Dr. Safri Burhanuddin; Unpad Vice Rector for Human Resources and Governance, Prof. R. Widya Setiabudi Sumadinata; and Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Prof. Yudi Nurul Ihsan.<\/p>\n\n\n

\u201cI am confident that this collaboration will bring positive impacts on research and new discoveries that will contribute to the sustainable development of the maritime ecosystem,\u201d said Dr. Park Hansan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Prof. Yudi Nurul Ihsan, explained that MTCRC was initiated by Indonesia\u2019s Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment in partnership with the Government of Korea since 2011. The cooperation aims to support various programs related to the fisheries and marine sector, including research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe hope that Unpad can actively participate in research and programs within the fisheries and marine sector initiated by the Indonesian and Korean governments, particularly in strengthening research and optimizing the use of available facilities,\u201d said Prof. Yudi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, Prof. Yudi added, MTCRC operates facilities on the northern coast of West Java, while Unpad has facilities on the southern coast, particularly in Pangandaran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe need support from MTCRC to optimize the utilization of Unpad\u2019s facilities in Pangandaran, as well as to complement them with advanced research equipment from Korea,\u201d Prof. Yudi concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
